Nordic Colab participant package 2022

A warm welcome to Värmland. During these two and a half days you will have the opportunity to participate in workshops and study visits, connect with stakeholders in the regional bioeconomy ecosystem and strengthen existing or strike up new collaborative partnerships with Swedish companies and other stakeholders in the bioeconomy. A very warm welcome to the Paper Province region!

 

 

TUESDAY, 31 MAY 

LIGNOCITY, BÄCKHAMMAR 

At 09.30 on 31 May you will leave Stockholm for Bäckhammar near Kristinehamn, to visit the LignoCity testbed and RISE. The bus will pick you up outside the hotel. The journey will take about three hours and a half. We recommend that you stop for lunch along the way. Please consult the driver. At LignoCity, you will also be able to visit the newly established company Lixea. 

Once at RISE and the LignoCity test bed, the itinerary will be as follows:

14:00 Welcome and introduction

14:30 Tour around the facility

15:30 Visiting Lixea

16:00 Coffee and open discussions

17:30 Dinner at Ölme Prästgård

• 21.30 Departure to Karlstad

• 22.00 Arrival at Elite Stadshotellet. Check in.

WEDNESDAY, 1 JUNE 

KARLSTAD 

MEETING LOCATION: All workshops and round table discussions will be held the Karlstad Culture and Congress Centre (KCCC). The easiest way to get to KCCC is on foot from the hotel. It is a ten-minute walk, at most (800 metres).  Directions on Google Maps.

MEETING SHEDULE: 

Participants will be divided into three separate groups with specific schedules depending on whether you represent academia, innovation support and bioeconomy ecosystem development organisations or a company. As the visit draws nearer, participants will receive a more detailed schedule, but the general outline of your visit to Karlstad you will find in the link below:

LUNCH: 

Lunch as well as morning and afternoon coffee will be provided by Paper Province and will be served at KCCC. Lunch for all participants from Canada is included on both Wednesday 1 June and Thursday 2 June, before departure for Stockholm.

DINNER: 

At 18.00 on 1 June, all participants are invited to a Reserchers’ Vernissage, reception and dinner. The Researchers’ Vernissage and dinner on 1 June will be held at Löfbergs Arena, Karlstad’s own ice hockey arena. Löfbergs Arena is the home of Färjestad BK, the current Swedish Hockey League champions. During the evening, burgers will be served in climate smart hamburger paper, the result of a collaborative project between two of Paper Province’s member companies. The Paper Province member companies will tell you more about their work over dinner. 

The dress code for dinner is casual. 

HOW TO GET TO THE LÖFBERGS ARENA: 

The easiest way to get to Löfbergs Arena is to go to Stora Torget (Main Square) in central Karlstad and from there take bus no 6. The journey takes about 15 minutes. You can find the route no. 6 timetable here.

The bus is also the easiest way to get back to the hotel afterwards.

Alternatively, you can take a walk. The walk of about 3.5 km between the hotel and Löfbergs Arena takes about 45 minutes and you will see Karlstad as well as the river Klarälven, which flows from Norway, through the whole of Värmland and down to Karlstad and Lake Vänern (northern Europe’s largest lake).

DEPARTURE TO STOCKHOLM: 

On Thursday 2 June you will travel back to Stockholm. You will travel by bus (pre-booked by Paper Province). The bus will pick you up outside KCCC at 15.00 CET. The journey will again take approximately three hours and a half and you are responsible for making sure that there are stops for any food purchases along the way.
