Webinar: Unlocking the potential of a growing bioeconomy

Welcome to a high-level webinar to discuss key elements needed for the new EU bioeconomy strategy to reach its objectives, and how the industry can contribute to this work.

This year, the European Commission will present its proposal for an updated EU Bioeconomy Strategy. Inside the Commission, the work is coordinated by DG Environment and Commissioner Jessika Roswall who oversees EU policies on environment and circular economy.

The new EU bioeconomy strategy seeks to enhance the role of bioeconomy in strengthening European competitiveness and resilience. Further, the strategy aims to highlight the role of bioeconomy in creating jobs and developing a strong industrial base in Europe, rooted in responsibility and sustainability.

The seminar is hosted by Member of the European Parliament, Jessica Polfjärd (EPP, Sweden). Other speakers include Silvija Aile, Deputy Head of Unit, EG Environment, European Commission, Henrik Sjölund, President and CEO, Holmen and Helga Pülzl, Assistant Director, European Forest Institute.
