Test and development environments

A test and demonstration environment, known as a test bed, can be an effective way to take your innovation to the next level. Paper Province can connect you with the right test bed for your idea.

3D printing with forest-based materials is an example of what can be tested and developed at a test bed. The picture is from Circlab in Torsby.

A test bed is an environment where you can practically test new ideas already during the development phase. For example, to test and demonstrate new processes and solutions or to produce prototypes. This makes testbeds important bridges between research and commercialisation. In short, they are an effective way to turn today’s ideas into tomorrow’s sustainable products and services.

Paper Province works closely with Circlab, RISE Lignocity, Karlstad University, Brobygrafiska, Dalarna Science Park and UMV Coating Systems, which are all examples of test beds. But we can also direct you to many more.

Want to test your innovation on a test bed? Get in touch and we’ll explore together what the right way forward is.

Selected test beds

Circlab

At Circlab in Torsby, you can test and develop ideas that link cellulose-based materials and 3D printing. Here you will find machinery to quickly develop prototypes and finished products with additive manufacturing as a technology and biocomposite as a material.

RISE Lignocity

At LignoCity near Kristinehamn, the focus is on the natural substance lignin as a raw material. Here, companies can develop and scale up technology that refines lignin into fuels, chemicals and materials. This is a way to contribute to a more circular society, as lignin is a renewable resource and side stream from the paper industry.

Brobygrafiska

Develop printing technologies and fossil-free packaging at Brobygrafiska in Sunne. Here you have the opportunity to test and compare new materials and functions, produce prototypes and test printing.

Karlstad University

Pro2Be and The Biomass Processing Factory are examples of open environments at Karlstad University that can be used for research and development on biomass processing. Here you can, for example, carry out projects linked to the production of pellets.
