Picture a society where we share resources to minimize the negative environmental impact. Not only on a private level, but also within the industry. This can be realized through Baltic Industrial Symbiosis.
The initiative promotes industrial symbiosis, a concept for sustainable regional development, in the Baltic Sea region. Industrial symbiosis involves linking companies and other actors from different industries with the aim to turn residual flows in to resources.
The project is about creating a platform for networking and matchmaking between different industrial stakeholders in the Baltic Sea area. The project will support and inspire new symbiosis projects by offering tools and running pilot projects. This creates an unique capacity and knowledge base for industrial symbiosis. The goal is also to give life to new business ideas that are both environmentally and financially sustainable.
The project is led by Symbiosis Center Denmark. Paper Province participates in the project together with other actors from Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Poland. Paper Province’s role is to contribute with its wide network within the forest bioeconomy, expert knowledge and advice. We will, among other things, map residual and side flows in our region, organize matchmaking events between companies, and test the value chain for a promising residual stream.
