Project

Focus Industry – Cross-border Innovation

The Focus Industry initiative exists to strengthen the innovative capacity of industrial companies and to meet the challenges of the future.

Small and medium-sized enterprises are vital to the Swedish economy. In Dalarna, Värmland and Gävleborg, there is a strong export-oriented industry that aims to grow even stronger through increased collaboration, innovation, and new working methods that support the green and digital transition.

Swedish manufacturing industries are a cornerstone of the national economy, but need to accelerate their efforts in sustainability and digitalisation to maintain and strengthen their competitiveness. That is why the project Focus Industry – Cross-Border Innovation exists, with Paper Province among the participating partners.

The aim of the initiative is to facilitate collaboration and create better conditions for climate-smart solutions. Companies will receive increased support to work with sustainability, circular business models, and international growth.

The project offers a unique opportunity to enhance both our own and the companies’ knowledge. It is very much about learning from one another and achieving even more together. By gaining new insights and shared ways of working, we can better support companies in boosting their capacity for innovation and sustainable development.

What is the project about?

Between 2025 and 2027, Focus Industry – Cross-Border Innovation will work to:

  • Introduce shared tools and methods to improve collaboration between stakeholders. These joint approaches will benefit companies in Northern Central Sweden.
  • Analyse companies’ strengths in diversity, digitalisation, and the circular economy.
  • Use the tool to identify patterns and lay the groundwork for collaboration between companies.
  • Carry out feasibility studies that form the basis for sustainable innovation projects.
  • Strengthen companies’ capacity for innovation and international collaboration.

Through these efforts, a platform will be created where companies and innovation actors can drive joint development that contributes to both regional and global sustainability.
