What we do
Based on the needs of our member companies, we are working to build a global leading node in forest-based bioeconomy. The key word is together, and this means that we collaborate with companies, regions, municipalities, academia and other key players to boost sustainable development with a focus on the forest as a raw material.
One of Paper Province’s main tasks is to connect actors who can further process wood into socially important products that contribute to increased competitiveness and sustainability. The member companies are the core of the organisation, but the collaboration also extends to many more, both within and outside Sweden. Because we know that sustainable development cannot take place in silos – it must take place in collaboration across borders.
The many initiatives carried out within Paper Province are about creating new collaborations, promoting innovation, strengthening the attractiveness of the forest industry and securing future skills. We run development projects, organise events, lead thematic networks, coach companies, organise training courses, conduct business intelligence and much more.

Regional mission for the forest bioeconomy
Our efforts are based on the collective needs of our member companies. At the same time, we also have an assignment from Region Värmland to coordinate and drive regional efforts to develop a circular forest bioeconomy, which is one of Värmland’s seven identified strengths.
The forest – an area of strength in Värmland
In Värmland, we are surrounded by forest – and we have learned to make the most of it. The availability of wood as a raw material, combined with long experience and innovation, has made us a leading region in forest bioeconomy. Paper Province is a key player in coordinating and scaling up this work at regional level.
